@@The course this department provides consists
of lectures and labs on systematic
anatomy
(except neuroanatomy) and dental anatomy.
Medical and dental education programs
usually
provide anatomy courses at an early
stage
of the curriculum as we do here.
This
is because a correct diagnosis and
proper
treatment requires the insight of the
pathological
status of a patient, which needs a
sound
understanding of the human body structure.
The lectures cover organ systems with
an
emphasis on relationship of their location,
so that the students can acquire three-dimensional
view of the human body structure. Related
information from clinical cases is
learned
at the same time, which helps he students
to feel the necessity of anatomical
knowledge
in an actual clinical situation. The
same
method has been introduced in dental
anatomy
classes. To fulfill a need for more
effective
learning in a limited time period,
more hours
are scheduled for laboratories than
classroom
lectures. In a gross anatomy laboratory,
the students are encouraged to learn
with
their eyes and hands. They are also
guided
to appreciate the body donors and to
treat
them with respect. It is also a valuable
opportunity for them to learn more
about
the significance of a life and medical
ethics. |
